Latest company news about Global Green Logistics Standards Upgrade, Low-Carbon Shipping Becomes Industry Core Trend in 2026

With the full implementation of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and the global promotion of carbon neutrality goals, the global logistics industry has ushered in a comprehensive upgrade of green and low-carbon standards in 2026. Green logistics has shifted from a conceptual trend to a mandatory industry standard, covering the whole chain of cargo transportation, warehousing, packaging and distribution.

The international standard Application Cases of Green Logistics Activities, jointly formulated by 15 countries around the world, has been officially implemented this year. The standard systematically defines low-carbon assessment standards for multiple logistics scenarios such as transportation, storage, loading and unloading, and packaging. Among the 83 classic green logistics cases included in the standard, 26 innovative cases from China cover energy-saving transformation of ports, new energy transportation equipment application, and recyclable logistics packaging, providing mature practical experience for global green logistics upgrading.

In the maritime logistics sector, the global shipping market has set off a new wave of low-capacity and green ship ordering. In the first eight months of 2026, the global new ship transaction volume hit a 20-year high, among which low-carbon oil tankers and eco-friendly container ships account for more than 60% of the total orders. New ships are equipped with energy-saving propulsion systems and carbon capture devices, which can reduce maritime carbon emissions by 15%-20% compared with traditional ships, effectively helping international shipping enterprises meet global carbon emission supervision requirements.

In terrestrial and air logistics links, the replacement rate of new energy logistics vehicles in mainstream regions such as Europe, North America and East Asia has increased significantly. More cross-border logistics enterprises have begun to adopt recyclable turnover boxes, degradable packaging materials and intelligent energy-saving warehouse management systems to reduce resource waste and carbon emissions in the logistics process. At the same time, multi-modal green transportation solutions that prioritize railway and water transportation have been widely promoted, replacing high-carbon road and air transportation, and realizing optimal balance between logistics efficiency and green environmental protection.

Industry insiders said that green low-carbon transformation will reshape the competitive pattern of the global logistics industry. In the future, carbon emission qualification and green service capacity will become important evaluation indicators for international corporate clients and freight forwarders to select logistics suppliers. Logistics enterprises with complete green service systems will gain greater market advantages in international trade cooperation, promoting the sustainable and high-quality development of global cross-border logistics.
